New Jersey’s 2025 Republican gubernatorial primary is shaping up to be more than just a political contest—it’s a battle for the soul of conservatism in the Garden State. With President Trump’s recent endorsement of Jack Ciattarelli making headlines, many Republicans are rallying to his side. But for those of us who don’t pledge allegiance to a political party, but to our principles—our faith, our families, and our freedom—this race deserves a closer look.

As Christian conservatives, we must ask: who among these candidates will fight for Biblical truth, protect our constitutional rights, and govern with moral clarity? Let’s dig deep into each of the five Republicans vying for the nomination and consider who truly stands for godly governance and courageous conservatism.

Jack Ciattarelli: The Trump-Endorsed Convert?

Jack Ciattarelli is the most well-known figure in this race, having been the GOP nominee for governor in 2021. He’s experienced, polished, and now—according to President Trump—a MAGA man. Trump’s endorsement has certainly given Ciattarelli a new burst of momentum, especially among Republican voters who still admire Trump’s leadership and willingness to take on the establishment.

However, Christian conservatives have long memories, and we recall that Ciattarelli wasn’t always so eager to stand with Trump or the values we hold dear. In 2021, he distanced himself from the America First movement, gave vague answers on abortion, and tiptoed around issues like parental rights and gender ideology. That’s not leadership—that’s triangulation.

Now, with Trump’s support in his pocket, he’s singing a new tune. Is it a genuine conversion or just political theater? Only God knows the heart (1 Samuel 16:7), but wise voters should be “wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16). Ciattarelli’s change of heart is welcome—if it’s sincere. But conservative Christians have been burned before by candidates who talked the talk but didn’t walk the walk.

Bill Spadea: The Bold Outsider with Biblical Backbone

Enter Bill Spadea. A Marine veteran, business leader, and popular conservative radio host, Spadea is the unfiltered voice of grassroots conservatism in New Jersey. He speaks plainly, fights passionately, and stands unapologetically for Christian values. While others test the political winds, Spadea sets his compass by Scripture and the Constitution.

He is unequivocally pro-life, believes in school choice and parental rights, and defends the Second Amendment as essential to liberty. He’s not afraid to tackle taboo topics, including government overreach, radical gender ideology in schools, and the spiritual rot in our political institutions. In short, he’s not running to win the applause of the elites—he’s running to serve the people and honor God.

Critics say he’s too brash or inexperienced. But let’s be honest—experience isn’t always a virtue in politics. Plenty of seasoned politicians have brought us more debt, more bureaucracy, and fewer freedoms. We need courage, not compromise. David wasn’t a trained soldier, yet God used him to bring down Goliath. Likewise, Spadea’s outsider status could be his greatest strength. He doesn’t owe the establishment anything—and that’s good news for those of us tired of being betrayed by “safe” Republicans.

Jon Bramnick: The Poster Boy for the GOP’s Left Flank

If Jack Ciattarelli is trying to pivot right, Jon Bramnick is doing the opposite—he’s made a name for himself by opposing Trump and cozying up to liberal media and policies. He claims to be a centrist, but that’s just code for “compromiser.” Bramnick has consistently taken positions that run counter to Biblical values and conservative principles. He’s soft on abortion, indifferent to religious liberty, and critical of parents who want a say in what their children are taught.

Sure, he might win over a few moderate suburbanites, but at what cost? As Jesus warned, “If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” (Matthew 15:14). We’ve had enough of Republicans who act like Democrats with better suits. Bramnick’s version of “unity” means conservatives lose every time. He may have legislative experience, but he lacks the moral compass and conviction to govern righteously.

Mario Kranjac: The Mystery Man

Mario Kranjac is a former mayor with limited name recognition and even more limited public policy stances. That’s not necessarily a bad thing—plenty of good leaders are overlooked. But in this race, with the stakes so high, his silence on key issues is deafening.

What does Kranjac believe about life, religious freedom, parental rights, or the role of faith in public life? Your guess is as good as mine. While it’s possible he’s a conservative at heart, he hasn’t made the case to the voters. And in a blue state like New Jersey, clarity is power. Without a bold, values-based message, Kranjac risks fading into irrelevance.

Justin Barbera: The Well-Meaning Longshot

Justin Barbera is a contractor who’s dipped his toes into politics before, including a recent run for Congress as an independent. He presents himself as a citizen-candidate, which is admirable. We need more everyday Americans in politics. But so far, his campaign hasn’t generated serious support or a compelling platform.

His positions on the major moral issues—abortion, religious freedom, school indoctrination—are either unknown or undefined. While we can respect his willingness to run, New Jersey needs a bold fighter, not a placeholder. With no track record and little public engagement, Barbera’s campaign feels more symbolic than strategic.

The Final Verdict: Vote for Courage, Not Comfort

When the dust settles, one candidate rises above the rest: Bill Spadea. He’s not just running to win—he’s running to stand. In an age of cowardice and compromise, Spadea is a man of conviction. He’s the only candidate who checks all the boxes: pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty, and unafraid to challenge the status quo. That’s what it takes to turn the tide in New Jersey.

Jack Ciattarelli may have the endorsement. Jon Bramnick may have the establishment. But Bill Spadea has something far more important—principles. And as Psalm 94:16 asks, “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?” In this race, the answer is clear: Bill Spadea will.

Let’s not trade true conviction for political calculation. The time has come to choose not just a candidate, but a cause. Let’s choose courage. Let’s choose truth. Let’s choose Spadea.
