Well, bless your heart if you thought Trump’s second term was going to be boring.

It’s been just over 100 days since President Trump retook the reins of government, and whether you love him, tolerate him, or hate him, you can’t deny this: he came out of the gate like a bull on a mission. Some are cheering, some are weeping, and a whole lot of folks are just scratching their heads.

As a Christian conservative who doesn’t pledge blind loyalty to any party or candidate — but rather to God, country, and common sense — let’s take a hard look at the good, the bad, and the morally messy.

The Good: Firm Steps in the Right Direction

1. Border Security is Finally Being Taken Seriously

After years of border chaos, Trump hit the ground running. He pushed through the Laken Riley Act, cracking down on illegal immigrants with criminal records and giving ICE the authority they sorely lacked under Biden. His administration claims a 94% decrease in illegal crossings and over 100,000 deportations — numbers that sound impressive if they hold true.

Now, are there still moral concerns? Sure. Every soul matters, and we ought to treat even lawbreakers with dignity. But let’s be clear: the Bible does not call for borderless nations. In fact, Acts 17:26 says God “hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.” Nations have borders for a reason. We are a nation of immigrants — legal ones.

2. Regulatory Chains Are Coming Off

Trump wasted no time axing Biden-era red tape. With over 140 executive orders, he’s rolled back green energy mandates, cut bureaucratic bloat, and repealed dozens of rules that were strangling small business.

The Regulatory Reduction Initiative claims to have saved Americans $180 billion. For small-town farmers, mechanics, and family businesses — who were barely surviving under inflation and regulation — this is the kind of relief they’ve been praying for.

3. America First (Again) on the Global Stage

Say what you will about Trump’s bluntness, but he doesn’t grovel. He withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord, again. He pulled the plug on the World Health Organization, citing China’s outsized influence. Whether you see that as bold leadership or dangerous isolationism depends on your lens.

From a Christian conservative point of view, self-governance is a biblical principle. We are called to be stewards of our own house before trying to fix our neighbor’s. That said, “America First” should never mean “Everyone Else Last.” Compassion and strength can coexist — if our leaders fear God more than polls.

The Bad: Swagger without Strategy

1. Executive Overreach is Still a Problem

One of our biggest gripes about the Biden administration — and the Obama one before it — was executive overreach. Guess what? Trump is guilty too. Ruling by executive order like a king with a pen may get things done quickly, but it sets a dangerous precedent.

We’re supposed to be a nation of laws, not of men. Romans 13 talks about government being “the minister of God to thee for good.” But when one branch hoards power, it corrupts the design. Even if Trump’s orders lean conservative, the Constitution shouldn’t be optional — not even for your favorite president.

2. The Economy Is Feeling Jittery

Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs may sound patriotic, but they’ve rattled the markets. The S&P 500 dropped 10% in just three months. Trade wars might fire up the base, but they often hit American consumers the hardest — especially working-class folks who already live paycheck to paycheck.

We all want to bring jobs home, but we’ve got to be wise. Proverbs 21:5 says, “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.” Trump’s approach feels more impulsive than strategic at times — a bull in the economic china shop.

The Ugly: Culture War, Pardons, and Political Payback

1. Foreign Policy Confusion

Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine “in 24 hours” and resolve the Israel-Gaza conflict “quickly.” So far, those promises are still just that — promises. Peace is never simple, and international affairs don’t bow to bravado.

He’s made progress diplomatically, but without real results, the world sees it as chest-thumping, not leadership. Worse, the U.S. seems more isolated now than ever.

2. Approval Ratings Drop Like a Rock

Despite winning reelection (which, love him or not, was a massive comeback), Trump’s approval rating is underwater. Among independents and principled conservatives, there’s growing discontent. Why? Because people want results — not drama.

And unfortunately, the media spats and self-inflicted wounds continue to distract from the wins. If Trump focused more on leadership and less on vengeance, he might have more allies and fewer enemies.

Final Verdict: A Mixed Start with Tremendous Stakes

So… has it been a success?

Honestly? It’s been a mixed bag.

From a Christian conservative viewpoint:

  • There have been clear moral victories: pro-life policy returns, religious freedom protections, and a push for law and order.
  • But there have also been deep concerns: pride, vengeance, and instability.

In 1 Samuel 16:7, the Lord reminds us, “For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” We need to pray not just for strong policies, but for a softened, humble heart in our leaders — Trump included.

Final Grade: C+ — With Room for Redemption

The foundation is being laid for a conservative renaissance — if Trump governs with discipline, grace, and focus. If not? We may win some short-term victories and lose the soul of the nation in the process.

God help us. And God bless America.
