The latest media frenzy over President Trump’s stance on court rulings is nothing more than the left’s predictable hysteria over his presidency. This time, the mainstream press is in full meltdown mode over Trump’s comments affirming that while he will abide by the courts, he will also appeal decisions that block his agenda. In a constitutional republic like ours, that is exactly how the system is supposed to function. Yet, the media is portraying this as some kind of authoritarian power grab.
The real story here is not Trump defying the courts—because he isn’t. The real battle is over who holds power in Washington: the elected branches of government, or unelected judges and bureaucrats. Trump and his allies are simply pushing back against an increasingly activist judiciary and a federal bureaucracy that behaves as if it is above the people.
As an independent Christian conservative, I believe in both the rule of law and the principle of limited government. These two ideas are not in conflict, but they are constantly misrepresented by the left. If we don’t recognize what’s really happening here, we will find ourselves governed not by our elected leaders, but by an entrenched ruling class that no one voted for.
Let’s break this issue down.
The Courts’ Role: Oversight or Overreach?
Trump’s critics argue that he is ignoring the courts, violating the Constitution, and treating Congress as a mere suggestion box. But if we examine the facts instead of the media spin, we see that this is pure political theater.
Every president challenges judicial rulings, and every president uses executive power to advance their agenda. This isn’t new. Yet, the media only seems to call it a “constitutional crisis” when a Republican president—especially Trump—does it.
🔹 Barack Obama defied the courts repeatedly. When a federal court blocked his executive amnesty program (DACA), he refused to stop it. He also ignored court rulings on his unconstitutional use of recess appointments and his selective enforcement of Obamacare. The media yawned.
🔹 Joe Biden openly defied the Supreme Court. After SCOTUS ruled that his student loan bailout was illegal, he found a backdoor way to keep parts of it alive, even bragging about ignoring the court’s decision. Biden also tried to extend an illegal eviction moratorium, knowing full well the courts had ruled against it. Again, no media outrage.
🔹 Donald Trump, on the other hand, follows the legal process. He has said he will abide by the courts and appeal unfavorable rulings—exactly how the system is designed to function. Yet, the left portrays him as a dictator for merely using the courts as intended.
This isn’t about Trump refusing to follow the law. It’s about the left’s belief that courts should have unlimited power to obstruct conservative policies while giving Democrats free rein.
The Bureaucratic Deep State: The Real Fight
What’s really at stake is not just Trump vs. the courts—it’s Trump vs. the entrenched Washington bureaucracy.
For decades, Washington has been run not just by elected officials but by an unaccountable, unelected administrative state. These career bureaucrats—protected by laws that make them nearly impossible to fire—operate with zero accountability to voters. They write regulations with the force of law, pick and choose which policies to enforce, and sabotage elected officials they disagree with.
Trump’s greatest offense, in the eyes of the ruling class, is that he refuses to bow to this shadow government. His plans to freeze federal spending, shut down bloated agencies, and fire bureaucrats who undermine his policies terrify the left because they know he will actually follow through.
🚨 The courts are not neutral in this fight. They are actively protecting the status quo.
That’s why every time Trump tries to reduce government waste or hold bureaucrats accountable, courts suddenly find new reasons to block his policies. The goal is to make sure that no matter who Americans elect, the same unelected ruling class stays in power.
This is why the left is so panicked. Trump is not just fighting Democrats—he is challenging the very structure of Washington’s permanent bureaucracy. And that is why they will do anything to stop him.
The Left’s Selective Outrage Over “Defying the Courts”
The hypocrisy here is so obvious that you’d have to be willfully blind to miss it.
Democrats have spent years telling their base to ignore or undermine the courts when it suits them.
📌 Biden and Democrats openly discussed packing the Supreme Court when they didn’t like its rulings. That’s a direct attack on judicial independence. Where was the media outrage?
📌 Democratic politicians repeatedly called on Biden to ignore SCOTUS on student loans. Not one major media outlet called this a “constitutional crisis.”
📌 Liberals celebrated when Obama and Biden defied the courts. But when Trump challenges a ruling through legal appeals, they scream “authoritarianism.”
The truth is, the left doesn’t believe in a fair judiciary. They want courts to be a one-way weapon—a tool to stop conservatives but not liberals.
A Balanced Approach to Law and Governance
I believe in law and order—but I also believe that power must be exercised justly. Romans 13:1 reminds us, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
That means we must respect legitimate authority, but it also means that authority itself must operate within its rightful limits.
Our Founding Fathers did not create a system where judges rule the country. The judiciary was designed to interpret laws, not micromanage every aspect of the executive branch. The president has a constitutional right to challenge judicial decisions—that’s why we have an appeals system.
What we should demand is a proper balance of power:
✅ Presidents must obey the law—but they also have the right to appeal decisions and fight for their policies.
✅ Judges must interpret laws, not create new ones to block policies they disagree with.
✅ Bureaucrats must be accountable to voters—not act as a shadow government resisting elected officials.
If we allow the left’s vision to take hold, we won’t have a system of checks and balances—we will have a system where unelected elites hold ultimate power, overriding the will of the people whenever it suits them.
Conclusion: Trump Is Following the Law—But the Left Doesn’t Like It
This is not a constitutional crisis. This is not an authoritarian power grab. This is not the collapse of democracy.
What we are witnessing is a desperate attempt by the left to stop Trump from governing. The courts are being weaponized to block his policies, and when he follows the legal process to challenge those rulings, the media pretends he’s tearing up the Constitution.
The real threat to democracy isn’t Trump—it’s the growing power of unelected bureaucrats and activist judges who believe they should have the final say over everything.
Trump isn’t defying the courts. He’s pushing back against judicial overreach, deep-state interference, and an out-of-control administrative state.
And that’s exactly why the Washington establishment is so terrified of him.
