So, Elon Musk—one of the world’s richest men and the guy responsible for electric cars, reusable rockets, and free speech on X (formerly Twitter)—has been handed access to the federal government’s financial systems. Not only that, but he’s leading a task force called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—because, of course, he couldn’t resist naming it after a meme coin.
Now, the D.C. swamp is panicking. The bureaucrats, the career politicians, and the “experts” who have been mismanaging taxpayer dollars for decades are watching in horror as Musk and his team dig through the books, identify waste, and—most terrifying of all—start shutting things down.
Suddenly, the same people who normally praise billionaires who push leftist policies are screaming about “democracy being in danger” because someone is finally questioning how the government spends our money.
So, is Musk an out-of-control billionaire overstepping his bounds, or is he simply delivering the wake-up call Washington desperately needs?
The Real Problem: An Out-of-Control Federal Bureaucracy
Before we dive into the controversy surrounding Musk’s new role, let’s talk about the real issue at hand: our federal government has become a bloated, wasteful, unaccountable behemoth.
1. The Founders Warned Us About This
Our system was never designed to function this way. The Founding Fathers explicitly warned against an oversized federal government that operates without direct accountability to the people. They believed in limited government, individual responsibility, and local control—not an unelected bureaucracy that spends trillions with little oversight.
But today, what do we have?
- Unelected bureaucrats making decisions behind closed doors.
- Trillions of dollars in federal spending with little to no transparency.
- Massive government contracts handed out to politically connected groups with no real accountability.
And the worst part? No one is ever held responsible.
2. USAID: A Prime Example of Waste and Corruption
One of the first agencies Musk reportedly shut down was the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Now, in theory, USAID is supposed to provide humanitarian assistance and foreign aid to struggling nations. Sounds good, right? Except for one problem—USAID is notorious for mismanaging funds, wasting taxpayer dollars, and funneling money into questionable programs.
For years, USAID has:
- Sent billions to corrupt foreign governments that never used it to help their people.
- Funded projects that had little to no measurable impact.
- Served as a slush fund for D.C. insiders and international elites.
So, if Musk really did shut down USAID, then my only question is: What took so long?
If the U.S. government is going to spend our hard-earned tax dollars on foreign aid, shouldn’t we at least demand that it’s being used wisely?
The Left’s Hypocrisy: Suddenly They Care About “Unelected Power”
Predictably, the Left is melting down.
Dahlia Lithwick and Mark Joseph Stern from Slate are calling Musk’s actions a “coup.”
A coup? Seriously?
These are the same people who:
- Cheered when unelected bureaucrats in the FBI and CIA interfered in elections by pushing false narratives.
- Applauded activist judges for blocking Trump’s legal executive orders.
- Supported tech billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg when he funneled hundreds of millions into elections to help his preferred candidates.
They were fine with unelected elites running the show—until someone they don’t like started questioning how the government operates.
The real reason they’re panicking? Musk is cutting off their taxpayer-funded gravy train.
Is Limiting Foreign Aid “Un-Christian”? Let’s Talk About That.
Someone recently told me that my emphasis on ensuring our foreign aid dollars are spent wisely is “non-Christian.”
“Jesus said love your neighbor. Full stop.”
Well, first of all, that’s a deeply flawed argument that ignores Scripture.
1. Jesus Was Speaking to Individuals, Not Governments
Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus command governments to redistribute wealth. Every time Scripture talks about giving, it is directed at individuals.
Luke 10:27 says: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.”
But Jesus also made it clear that our personal responsibility to help others does not mean endorsing waste and corruption.
2. Wise Stewardship Is a Biblical Principle
Our resources are finite. God calls us to be good stewards of what we have, ensuring that we use our resources wisely to help those who are truly in need.
Luke 16:10 states: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
If our government is blindly throwing billions of dollars into inefficient, unaccountable programs, that is not biblical charity—it’s irresponsible waste.
So no, it is not “un-Christian” to demand accountability for how our tax dollars are spent. It is the right thing to do.
A Christian Perspective: Holding Government Accountable Is a Moral Duty
From a Christian conservative standpoint, accountability in government is a moral issue.
Proverbs 29:2 states: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
When government is corrupt, wasteful, and unaccountable, the people suffer.
We are called to hold our leaders accountable, demand integrity, and ensure that resources are used wisely.
Final Thoughts: Musk vs. the Swamp
Elon Musk’s DOGE experiment is either going to be:
- A groundbreaking movement that finally exposes and reforms government waste.
- A chaotic battle that ends with Washington elites kicking him out.
Either way, one thing is certain: he is forcing a conversation that we have needed to have for decades.
The federal bureaucracy has become an unelected fourth branch of government, one that operates without real oversight or accountability.
If Musk can shine a light on its darkest corners and force meaningful reforms, then that’s a win for the American people.
The Left may scream “coup” all they want, but if cutting waste, holding bureaucrats accountable, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely is a coup…
Then maybe it’s one we needed.
