Hey folks, it looks like we’ve reached a new low in the saga of political division: the weather. Yup, you read that right—storms are now partisan! According to recent reports, a FEMA official allegedly instructed storm relief crews to withhold aid from Trump supporters during disaster recovery efforts. Now, I don’t know about you, but when the next hurricane hits, I’m not sure if I should grab a raincoat or a MAGA hat for protection. Just in case, I guess I’ll have both handy!

Disaster Politics: A New Level of Absurdity

Let’s get one thing straight: disasters don’t care about your voter registration. When a hurricane comes barreling down, it doesn’t pause to check if you’re Team Red or Team Blue. It’s an equal-opportunity destroyer. So why on earth would someone think it’s a good idea to inject partisan politics into disaster relief? It’s like telling a firefighter to only save houses that have the right yard sign out front. Absurd, right?

What’s next? Are tornadoes going to start voting in the primaries? “Breaking news: The tornado that hit Kansas has officially endorsed Ron DeSantis!” I mean, come on.

FEMA’s Job Is to Help People—Period.

Let’s remember the basics here. FEMA stands for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Their job is to manage emergencies, not to become political referees. If your town has been flattened by a hurricane, you shouldn’t have to worry if your vote in the last election determines whether you get help or not. The only question relief crews should be asking is: Are you okay? Not, Did you vote for Trump or Harris?

It’s honestly baffling that we even have to say this out loud. It’s like needing a reminder that hospitals shouldn’t check your political leanings before performing heart surgery. Imagine an EMT going, “Well, your blood pressure looks bad, but first—did you vote in favor of that last tax increase?”

A Sign of the Times?

Look, this isn’t just about one FEMA official going rogue. It’s a symptom of something deeper. The fact that this story even exists shows how far the political division in our country has gone. We’re not just fighting over policies anymore; now we’re fighting over whether certain people deserve help when disaster strikes based on their beliefs.

And let’s be honest: the media loves stories like this. It’s got everything—political drama, a villain, and victims who are conveniently painted as everyday Americans caught in the crossfire. It’s easy to see why this kind of headline goes viral, especially when so many folks are already convinced that “the other side” is out to get them.

Accountability Matters

If this report is true, that FEMA official needs to be shown the door, and pronto. (I believe they have been fired.) We cannot have public servants acting like petty political operatives. When you work for the government, your job is to serve all Americans, not just the ones who agree with you. This isn’t complicated—it’s basic public service.

And yes, this applies whether the victims are Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, or those folks who still insist on writing in Ron Paul every election cycle (you know who you are). The idea of punishing someone based on their political beliefs is un-American. It’s something we’d expect to hear from a third-world dictatorship, not the United States of America.

A Little Common Sense, Please?

At the end of the day, the message is simple: Help your neighbors. That’s what it’s all about. When Jesus talked about loving your neighbor as yourself, I’m pretty sure He didn’t mean, “Love your neighbor unless they voted differently than you did.” Disasters should bring us together, not be used as a twisted tool for division.

Maybe it’s time we all take a step back, look in the mirror, and ask ourselves: Are we really this divided? And if so, how do we fix it? Because right now, it feels like we’re trying to weather a storm in a leaky boat while arguing about who brought the wrong snacks. Let’s get back to the basics—serve people, love your neighbor, and leave politics at the door, especially when lives are on the line.

So, next time the skies turn gray and the wind starts to howl, remember this: When the floodwaters rise, they don’t care who you voted for. And neither should we.
